“Ground control to Pack 457…
You’ve really made the rank…
And the people want to know whose Class B shirts you wear…
Now it’s time to leave the ground if you dare…”
What We Did
- Launch Model Rockets (Contact Mr. Maloney or your Den Leader if you did not receive a rocket kit)
- Learn about constellations and star gazing
- Explore the sky with telescopes
- Camp out in the park!
Potential Advancement
Participating in this meeting helped our Scouts to complete the following advancement/award requirement(s):
- Tiger Sky is the Limit Requirement 1: With your den or adult partner, go outside to observe the night sky. Talk about objects you see or might see.
- Nova Out of this World Requirement 3A: Have a star party with your den, pack, or family and do the following:
- Choose a clear night to investigate the stars. A fun time to watch stars is during a meteor shower.
- Find five different constellations and draw them.
- Share your drawings with your counselor. Discuss whether you would always be able to see those constellations in the same place.
- Webelos/AOL Elective Adventure – Adventures in Science 3d: With adult supervision, build and launch a model rocket. Use the rocket to design a fair test to answer a question about force or motion.
