How much does it cost to be a Scout?

Our Leaders work hard to keep the cost of our program low. The majority of our expenses are covered through our Annual Dues and our Popcorn sales. You should expect to spend around $150 in your first year to cover your annual dues, purchasing your uniform and rank-specific handbook. Some of this cost can be reduced by obtaining used supplies from our Pack webstore. Will my child go camping and do outdoor activities?

Yes, each Rank requires your Scout to participate in some outdoor activities (although camping is not specifically required). Each year, we plan to offer overnight activities at least every quarter. How many times will we meet each month?

You should expect to be invited to 2 or 3 Cub Scout meetings every month: Our Dens meet 1 or 2 times each month to work with other Scouts in their grade to complete adventures and work towards their rank requirements. All of our Dens come together at least monthly for a Pack meeting or other outing. Pack Meetings are generally the 3rd Friday of each month.

Can girls join Cub Scouts?

Yes! In 2018, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) started a two year process to introduce girls into its Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs. (The BSA has two additional programs, Venturing and Explorers, that have been co-ed for many years.) Our Pack welcome our first three girl members during our 2018 – 2019 Pack year. Girls participating in Cub Scouts are a part of their own Dens with their own Den Leader(s). Who can join a Cub Scout Pack?

Our Pack is open to any boy or girl in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Typically our members come from the Zelienople area and attend school at Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School (CVE), St. Gregory’s Catholic School, or Evans City Middle School.
